Wells Fargo Bank has presented HIP with a grant of $7,500 to assist with the "greening up" of our single family program.

HIP Staff Person Honored.

GRACIELA APONTE, one of HIP/HIP Services certified housing counselors, was honored by HUD for her outstanding assistance to increase homeownership. Nominated by the Federal Housing Administration, Graciela was recognized as a housing counselor who has had a direct impact on the Hispanic American community, making the American Dream a reality for many.

HIP receives national award!

Award.HIP has been selected as a national Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative award winner. From among 2500 applicants Bank of America selected sixty highly effective organizations to receive one hundred thousand dollars in grant money for core support for each of two years. HIP was one of two winners in the Washington area. Our Executive Director, Mosi Harrington, has been participating in training and idea sharing with Executive Directors from across the United States throughout 2005. We are honored to have been selected for this award.

HIP's Artists' Housing has won 5 awards: The Washington Business Journal's Best Real Estate Deals for the Best Sustainable Growth/Environmental Impact, an Honor for design from the State of Maryland's American Institute of Architects, the State of Maryland's Smart Growth Award, the HAND Best Project in Maryland, and the National Association of Local Housing Agencies' Meritorious Award.

HIP received a CDGB best practice award for HIP HOMES, the acquisition/rehabilitation or new construction of single-family homes for sale to low- and moderate-income families.

HIP was honored in February, 2002 by the Maryland Affordable Housing Trust with an award of excellence.

MAHT saluted HIP "for its passion for low-income housing and for being bullish about Prince Georges County. House by house, homeowner by homeowner, HIP is changing the face of neighborhoods by finding the perfect combination of the house, quality rehab and affordable financing, and client education.

HIP masters the identifying and layering of all available funding sources."


Previously, HIP received an award from the Community Development Block Grant Program of Prince George's County DHCD "For perseverance and Dedication to Developing Quality Affordable Housing."
